Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you take insurance?

We are on four insurance panels: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kaiser, PacificSource and Medicare. For any other insurance we would be considered “out of network”. Many insurance companies still reimburse “out of network” providers and you will need to check with your insurance company to see if this is a benefit with your insurance. If you have Kaiser insurance you need to call their Mental health line (503-249-3434) and request a referral to our clinic. The process usually takes only a day or two to get the referral.

2. What kind of therapy do you provide?

We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because this type of therapy has been demonstrated to be very helpful in the treatment of anxiety disorders. It involves changing patterns of behavior and thought in order to better deal with anxiety and fear. Facing ones fears, or Exposure Therapy, is a big part of how we help our clients learn to manage their anxiety.

3. How long does therapy last?

While it is difficult to know exactly how long therapy will last for each individual, CBT tends to be short term. We identify the problem as quickly as we can, provide tools/techniques to manage the anxiety and get you back to living your

4. Will you make me do things I am afraid to do?

No! Our work is very collaborative and we won’t make you do anything you don’t want to do, but having said that there are times when facing ones fears is necessary if you want to overcome an anxiety disorder. We will suggest what we think you should do and then it is up to you to decide if you want to do it.

5. What hours are you open?

We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our groups usually run between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, but we also have some groups that are held between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. We do offer some limited evening and weekends.
